Where? The Nisswa Community Center!! You can start by donating and preparing ingredients to the community pot of Booya on Friday, October 26, and come prepared to enjoy your neighbors at the Booya on Saturday, October 27. We will have a silent auction, amazing program, and a great celebration as we learn about our neighbors around the world, and, specifically, in Haiti. Dr. James Roelofs, local physician, world traveler, and philanthropist and Dr. Cleantus Jean, Jr., co-founder of The Faith Project, will both be speaking!! Meet new neighbors!! Help prepare a community pot of Booya!!! 100% of event proceeds to support economic development programs in Garde Saline, Haiti.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2018 AT NOON.
Bring a Booya ingredient, vegetable-chopping tools, and a cutting board and join your neighbors in making a community pot of Booya!! Needed ingredients include: beef, chicken, pork, celery, onions, green beans, green peppers, potatoes, carrots, peas, tomatoes, tomato juice, tomato sauce, Worchestershire sauce, tobacco sauce, paprika, thyme, salt, pepper.

Attend Booya, Program, and Silent Auction (Auction Baskets representing cultures from around the world.) Tickets cost $30.00 and are available by calling Kathy at 218-682-2980.
Dr. Roelofs is a retired Radiologist and humanitarian who has participated on medical trips to improve radiology services in impoverished countries like Tanzania Uganda, East Timor and Haiti. He has studied how Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and Christians care for each other in their native environments in India, China, Indonesia, Turkey, Africa, and SE Asia. Dr. Roelofs will speak about how his travels and experiences have expanded his attitudes about knowing “Who is My Neighbor”.
Dr. Jean will speak specifically about the Haitian culture and the work of The Faith Project, which helps Haitian community leaders move beyond dependence to building healthy, sustainable communities.
